The Videos of The Time

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rZKCegwnCU&feature=player_detailpage
I feel that this video thoroughly explains some of the causes of the war.  It goes into great detail.  This four minute video sums up all of chapter five.

This clip from what I think is a movie, makes a good sense of the time period.  since the movie is set in the time of the war.  Although this movie has almost nothing to do directly with the war, you still get a good feel of the time period from it.

This clip is just the beginning of the movie, though, but the movie as a whole conveys the time period very well.  And i posted  this just as a little teaser for the movie.

The Wonderful Old Text Book

These are some sentences from the text book that I found very interesting.

1.Paine ridiculed the very idea of rule by kings.
I found this sentence interesting because Tomas Paine, a British man would be against the concept of a king.

2.In the heat of the Philadelphia summer, Jefferson struggled to find the words that would convince Americans and the world of the rightness of Independence.
I found this sentence interesting because Jefferson, a young man at the time, is assigned to wright the most important document in American history.  He must also wright i n the heat, in many layers of clothes, in a building with no air circulation.   With all of those forces acting against him, its amazing that he wrote it at all.

What We Have Done

This post is a continuation of my post on Howard Zinn.  In his article, he states that the war was unnecessary.  This post is here to agree with / debate wit that.  I want you all to post your comments and state your opinions then i will re post the results of this test.

I feel like this video was short, but not to the point.  It didn't explain very much.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKFKGrmsBDk
At the beginning, I didn't really get this video, but shortly after that I got it.  This man is a VERY racist man who doesn't want anyone to be different than anyone else.  He is SO offensive to EVERY religion even his.  I think that everyone should celebrate they're ethnicity.  I think he drank a little too much wine in the video.  I stopped watching this video when the toll free # came up.

P.S. If I prank call that # do I get extra credit?

The Pictures (cont.)

Washington Crossing the Delaware is a very important and famous image of the American Revolution.

The Pictures

I think that this is a little stupid how They changed the picture.  I consider this graffiti.  Well, when I was looking through all the pictures that came up when I typed in Art on the American Revolution I mostly found Pictures of old-middle aged men wearing wigs and tights.  There were also some very compelling battle scenes conveyed.  Also i think that Washington Crossing the Delaware is one of the most compelling image of the  Revolution.

The Zinn is Strong in This One

In the article about the revolution, Zinn just stated that many people dying was not worth it to get rid of the British. And that we could have gotten rid of them without a war.  He put a whole new view on the war.

About Zinn:
He is an activist, playwright, historian, and many other things.  He wrote a book called A People's History of the United States.  He is a Professor and has written about 20 books.  From his article, I concluded that he does not believe in war.

Here is a link to this article:

Oh Hail The Great George!......Washington.

I think that the most important person in the Revolutionary war was George Washington.  He did so many important things for the war that it is obvious that he is a very important person.  First, he was one of the biggest generals in the war effort.  He helped the troops through the hard times at Valley Forge, and he also helped them emerge stronger in the spring.  He led the troops into many battles that the Americans won, and for that I think he was the most important person in the war.

I think a modern example of George Washington would be (this is probably a cleshay but...) Barack Obama.  He is a true leader in these very hard times.  Washington and Obama both have traits that have leadership written al over them.  For example, Bravery.  Both men are very brave to be a leader in the hard times that the two men faced. And both men have been very good leaders.

If Washington was a person nowadays he would eat granola as cereal (he's a concervative Kashi type), and his favoorite movie would be Glory because of the obvious reasons!

To Be... Won, or Not To Be...Won.

How did we win the Revolutionary War?  Why did we win the Revolutionary War?  Well, some of the reasons are...(and as follows)

1. Turf Yo!
2. We Gon' Win!
3. George Washington Be Bein' Good Leader!
4. Help From Abroad!

(a song composed by Megan Ashleman and Morganne Yambrovich)

We won because of our dedication to our country, our willingness to die for what is right, our belief in ourselves, then there are also the obvious reasons.  We knew the land very well.  For this was our land that we have lived on and we knew the forests, the streams, the lakes very well.  We also had good leaders like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.  some other reasons for are win are that we believed in ourselves with a little help from Thomas Paine, and we had help from the French and Spanish.

I think the most compelling reason for our victory is our belief in ourselves and the way we didn't give up.  I think the most modern example is the thing that happened in Africa.  I do not know it that well but there was this man from Africa who fought against the mean government and then they won and he became president.  This is a modern example of our victory because we and they fought for freedom, won , and then got a president.  And I bet that the colonial victory helped inspire them in the search for freedom.

The Theory of Blogging

The Blog:  The new rage in the cyber-world.  Yet very different, the blog has some similarities to its cousin, the infamous "Paper".  The advantages of the blog, though, are of course, being connected to the World Wide Web.  You also get the advantages of design, color and followers.  But with a paper, you get the advantages of your work seeming more formal.  And maybe even more academic.  Which can sometimes be good.  So as you can see there are some similarities, yet mostly differences.  blogging is also more public than traditional writing of course because it is on the Internet.  Blogging can also be more academic in the way that many other people can see your opinions and comment.  This can help you improve academically.

There are many advantages that come with public writing.  For example, its public!  There are also disadvantages.  For example, its public!  Which means everyone can see it, even if you don't want them to.  Writing for the is also different than writing for the secludedness of secludedness.  Everyone can see public writing so it might effect the way you write it.  You would be worried about who can see it, and what they think so you might not write completely truthfully.

The Way to Think

"I only regret that i have but one life to lose for my country"
